It's been that kind of week.
You know, the kind where if badgers actually invaded your house and savaged your boyfriend and stole all of your best underwear you would not be surprised.
Yeah.
Anyway, the paper mache class seemed to go well. It was a small group, which I was happy about, and I got lots of compliments about my work. That made me feel all fuzzy inside. Woo!
Pictures? What pictures? I don't know what you're talking about.
So, one of the people in my class said her relation has left at her house a pile of ceramic molds. I remarked how cool that was. They're probably for sale since she has never and will never use them, she said. That's interesting, I said. There's all sorts of stuff of all sizes...like chess pieces...
About this time, my brain went into overdrive and showed me about 200 things it could do with chess piece molds and I wonder what else she has, do you think she's got some animals, we could use some of those, what about flowers, nothing cutesy, of course, but there is sometimes a need for those...
We're going to her place on Saturday to rummage through the apparent mountain of ceramic molds and see which ones want to come home with me to participate in the many experiments with paper mache I will be partaking in/cursing at. Hey, she said they were FREE. FREE is a word that gets me more excited than SALE ON ALPACA.
I got to thinking and reading the comments and I'm actually kind of liking "Art on the Cob". It lends for some interesting taglines. "Art on the Cob: Stick two sticks in it and go!" "Art on the Cob: Really gets in your teeth." "Art on the Cob: A-maizing!"
Kathymarie suggested "Art on a Stick" which I also dug quite a lot. "Art on a Stick: Could poke someone's eye out!" "Art on a Stick: And they said I wasn't allowed pointy things..." "Art on a Stick: Is that art in your pocket or are you happy to see me?"
I know there are other suggestions out there. Come on! It's the Crochet Cultist Renaming Game!
I would offer prizes, but I spent a lot of money on my boyfriend's birthday. You'll definitely get credit where it's due/blamed. How's that? Yeah, I know, but I'm poor and stuff. Pity me.
Maybe I'll have a mood blog where the name changes every week. Hmmm...
Of course, if I'm going to suggest that I do artsy things, I suppose I should put up pictures. sigh Fine. I'll rustle some up.
Let's see if we can't get some names, though.
Artsy Fartsy?
Art Tart?
Fiber, Paper, and Sticks, oh my?
Still taking suggestions.

I'm not sure, but it seems I will be stuck on paper mache for quite some time. Although I am not giving up the fiber arts, I just don't work on them much right now. I'm wondering if I should rename the blog to reflect my rather ecclectic taste in hobbies.
"The Crafting Cultist"?
"Art on the Cob"?
"Art Shmart, My Sanity Is On the Line"?
Any suggestions, ideas, death threats?
Kind of...
Sort of...
I mean, are we ever really HERE?
About three minutes ago, I wasn't here. I was downstairs trying to pop a paper mache bunny out of a plaster mold and was saying things to the effect of, "You WILL come out of this mold, dammit!" and "You broke my stick!" and "Why the hell am I bleeding?"
Yeah, it's like that.
Right now, I'm here, but in about, oh, ten minutes, I'll be downstairs staring at this bunny thinking how I'm going to make it look more like a bunny and less like an earthquake victim and somehow get it attached to this mask so that it looks like it's holding the mask and find a place to put the stick so that it doesn't skewer said bunny through the bum.
Yeah, it's been that kind of day.
I got roped into teaching a paper mache mask making class for the SCA. I must be insane. I can't teach. When I teach, it sounds simple in my head, but it comes out some mutant form of Greek and only confuses people. I have until next Sunday to come up with something that will work. I'm going to give it my best shot, but if I get weird stares and rolling eyes, I'm just going to remind them that I told them so.
Pictures? Oh, yeah...those...well...I sort of have some...kind of...look it's Fred Flinstone! Lisa shaped dust cloud and distant sounds of running feet
